This appliqued 9 1/2” wide x 36” long table runner is pieced from the Ninth Row pattern from the 2019 Row-by-Row project. The quilt is made with fusible applique.
The Row-by-Row project is a nationwide event where participating quilt shops create a block pattern based on a particular theme and then quilters collect the various patterns/kits to make a sampler quilt. The Ninth Row pattern is the same for all shops and proceeds from the patterns/kits sold go to charity.
This Ninth Row quilt was made from the kit which I had available featuring purple and green on a green-grey background to match my original Row-by-Row pattern featuring purple and green grapes (a shout out to the New York Fingerlakes region). The utensil pattern is a special Accuquilt die created as part of the 2019 Row-by-Row project. Kits are also available to make this runner.

Delft Tulips Table Runner measures 15 1/2” wide x 42” long. All fabrics in runner are 100% cotton and are only blues and white/ecru in color.
This pieced runner only appears to have curved pieced tulips due to a peeled-back piecing technique similar to that used in a cathedral window quilt. An extra diagonally folded square is pieced into the blocks where a curve is desired. Then the bias folded edge is “peeled back” and stitched down creating a mock pieced curve.
Another unique design feature of this runner is the gracefully curved corners. A bias cut binding, means the edges lay nice and flat. A blue rose border stripe print backs this runner, making it as pretty on the back side as the pieced front side. Background areas are machine stipple quilted.
Easy care: machine wash cold, tumble dry low (or line dry), cool iron if necessary.

Machine appliqued hearts on a light floral background block make up this three block runner measuring 16” wide x 43” long. Made from 100% cotton fabric and batting, the runner is echo quilted around the hearts. Blocks are sashed and bordered with a green floral print.
Unique mirror-image designs on the pieced hearts is created by a Stack-n-Whack-like technique. Hearts are pieced from two identical cuts from the focus large-scale fabric.. With one half of the heart being pieced with the wrong side of the fabric facing up, the result is a shadowed mirror-image of the floral design on the fabric hearts.
This shadowed mirror-image gives the runner lots of dimension. The quilted table runner is backed with the same large-scale red floral focus fabric that the hearts are made from.
Easy care: machine wash cold, tumble dry low (or line dry), cool iron if needed.

This bright and colorful traditional tumbling blocks runner takes on a contemporary look due to the fabric choices. It measures a narrow 11” wide x 37” long.
Traditionally, a tumbling blocks quilt consists of three fabrics varying in value from light to dark, This variance in value is what gives the blocks their three dimensional effect. Also, if you look at the quilt long enough, there is an Escher-like effect. The sides of the blocks, or medium (red and green) and dark (black) fabrics, shift when staring at the quilt. The chili pepper fabric (or light fabric) also appears to move up and down.
The runner is backed with the same wavy green fabric as the binding. It is filled with 100% cotton batting and machine quilted following the “stairsteps” of the red, green and black fabrics.
Easy care: machine wash cold, low tumble dry, cool iron if needed.

This patriotic 18” wide x 42” long table runner was quilted at the same time it was pieced. As a result, you only see quilting stitches on the red, white, and blue star print fabric on the back.
To piece this quilt, the quilter starts in the center with a log cabin block. Then various different width strips of fabric are added working out from the center and creating this attractive diagonal stripped design. After you complete the piecing, the runner is automatically quilted and only needs to be trimmed and bound.

Two block Patriotic Wave table runner measures 16” x 30”. This runner would work equally well as a small vertical wall hanging.
The technique used to make this runner involves piecing a dimensional red or blue folded skinny strip between strips of red, white and blue star background fabric. After the blocks are completed, the skinny folded strips are topstitched going up and down at regular intervals to peel back the folded strips and create a dimensional “wave” of each strip.
Runner is made entirely from 100% cotton fabrics and batting. It is machine quilted in-the-ditch, creating almost invisible quilting stitches on the front.
