Join us for the 20th annual Quilting with Margaret GET-AWAY experience in April of 2026. New this year will be two back-to back, three-day retreats, each with a special add-on extra night and day to extend your retreat. Or really get away and do both retreats!
Location
The Mansion (formerly Esperanza) high on the bluff overlooking Keuka Lake in the New York Finger Lakes will be our venue again this year. Everyone who attended the past two years has nothing but rave reviews for the location and accomodations.
The Mansion is a Greek Revival house built in 1838 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A large banquet room and a 21-room inn have been added to the expansive 5-acre grounds. The Mansion has plenty of space to work on your quilting or creative projects in the large banquet room, with lots of windows for natural light. Not just quilters attend this retreat. It is open to artists of all mediums.
What’s Included
Each retreat includes a full day and evening each day to quilt or work on your artistic project. It ends on Sunday (Retreat #1) or Thursday (Retreat #2) at 3 p.m. Three meals are specially prepared by the chefs at The Mansion, which also has a renowned public restaurant. The last day will only include a hot breakfast buffet and a box lunch. The culinary staff creates artisanal dishes that emphasize local, seasonal produce and meats with fine wines of the region’s vineyards.
Extended Full-Day and Extra-Night Options
You can choose to extend your retreat for an additional charge by including an extra full day (including 3 meals) on Thursday (for Retreat #1) or Monday (for Retreat #2). Everyone can further extend their retreat, whether it is three days or four, by arriving the night before to set up and have a good night’s sleep in your charming room in either the 8-room Mansion or 21-room adjacent inn. All rooms in both The Mansion and inn have a modern bathroom, refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, flat screen TV and free wi-fi. The extra night only does not include dinner, but The Mansion has a public restaurant and Penn Yan, NY, is a short distance away with a variety of restaurants and diners.
SELLING OUT FAST!
Like last year, these retreats are selling out fast. If you would like to join us, don’t delay. A $100 deposit holds your space. Once we are sold out, you can be added to the wait list for April 2026, and you will be notified if there is a cancellation. Being on the wait list also puts you on the early notification email list for 2027, so you will know about the Get-Away before it is publicly advertised or listed on this web site.
The price of both the 3-day and 4-day retreats includes:
Welcome bag of goodies and chocolate upon arrival.
Get-acquainted activities including a pre-party at Quilting with Margaret’s studio prior to the retreat.
Gourmet meals each day with restaurant-style cuisine. Price includes: three meals a day (except for the last day which includes breakfast and a box lunch).
Your choice of a guest room in The Mansion or adjacent inn. All rooms have modern bathrooms, free wi-fi, a flat-screen TV, refrigerator and coffee/tea maker. The retreat price does not include your room, but you will recieve a special low-priced group rate. Simply reserve a room and pay for it directly with The Mansion (see below for details).

Three days to work on your own projects and/or make an easy-for-a-beginner guided quilt project.
A free kit and demo on the second day to make a small project featuring a special technique.
Snacks and beverages available throughout the retreat.

Everyone will have their own sewing/work station.
Margaret will bring a mobile quilt shop with fabric, kits, and basic notions, in case you forgot something or just feel like shopping.

Registration requires two steps:
Completing a registration form (download by clicking on the orange button below) and mailing it to Margaret along with a non-refundable deposit of $100. Payment can be made by check or cash. Pay in full by June 30, 2025, and receive $20 off the basic retreat price and $5 off the extra full day price. Put a deposit down by June 30, 2025. and receive a coupon good for 2 free yards of fabric from Quilting with Margaret.

Pre-Party
There will be a Pre-Party at my studio in Charlotte prior to the Get-Away in March or April of 2026. At the Pre-Party, you will receive a welcome packet with information about the weekend, including supply lists and a description of the guided quilt project. There will be refreshments and a chance to get re-acquainted with your retreat friends or get to know your fellow retreaters if you are new. If you live outside of the Rochester area, or can’t attend the Pre-Party, you will receive a welcome packet in through email.
