2024 Get-Away Weekend

Join us for the 18th annual Quilting with Margaret GET-AWAY WEEKEND in April of 2024. There is a special add-on extra night to extend your weekend if you choose.
New Location
We have a new location for 2024, The Mansion (formerly Esperanza) high on the bluff overlooking Keuka Lake in the New York Finger Lakes.
The Mansion is a Greek Revival mansion built in 1838 and is listed on the National Register of Historic places. A large banquet room and a 21-room inn have been added to the expansive 5-acre grounds. The Mansion has plenty of space to work on your quilting or creative projects in the large banquet room with lots of windows for plenty of natural light. Not just quilters attend this retreat. It is open to artists of all mediums.
What’s Included
The weekend includes a full day and evening each day to quilt or work on your artistic project. The retreat ends on Sunday at 3 p.m. Three meals are specially prepared by the chef’s at the Mansion, which also has a renowned public restaurant. Sunday will only include a hot breakfast buffet and a box lunch. The culinary staff create artisanal dishes that emphasize local, seasonal produce and meats with fine wines of the regional vineyards.
Extended Full-Day and Extra-Night Options
This year you can choose to extend your weekend by including an extra full day (including 3 meals) on Thursday for an additional charge. Everyone can also extend their weekend, whether it is three days or four, by arriving the night before to set up and have a good nights sleep in your charming room either in the 8-room mansion or 21-room adjacent inn. All rooms in both the mansion and inn have a modern bathroom, refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. You can also opt to stay over Sunday night (although the workroom will be closed at 3 p.m.) to wind down. The public restaurant is closed on Sunday night and does not serve breakfasts on Monday morning, but the mansion is a short distance from Penn Yan, NY which has a variety of restaurants and diners.

We unexpectedly were only one person away from being SOLD OUT after only two weeks. But we were able to add 5 additional spots, so you can still get in on the 2024 Get-Away if you were thinking about it. If you would like to join us, don’t delay. Once we are sold out, you can be added to the waitlist for April 2024 and you will be notified you if there are any cancellations. Being on the waitlist will also put you on the early notification email list for 2025, so that you will know about the Get-Away before it is publicly advertised or listed on this website.
The price of both the 3-day and 4-day retreat includes:
Welcome bag of goodies and chocolate upon arrival.
Get-acquainted reception Friday evening.
Gourmet meals each day with restaurant-style cuisine. Price includes: 3 meals per day (except for Sunday which includes breakfast and a box lunch).
Your choice of a guest room in the Mansion or adjacent inn. All rooms have modern bathrooms, free WiFi, a flat screen TV, refrigerator and coffee/tea maker.
Outdoor patio outside work/sewing room with a view of Keuka Lake.
Three days to work on your own projects and/or make an easy-enough-for-a-beginner guided quilt project.
A free kit and demo on Saturday to make a small project featuring a special technique.
Snacks and beverages available all weekend.
Public bar open each night during the retreat.
Late night sewing each night in our spacious classroom.
Chance to win a quilt block exchange.
Show & Tell every day during lunch.
Everyone will have their own sewing/work station.
Margaret will bring a mobile quilt shop with fabric, kits, and basic notions in case you forgot something or just feel like shopping.

Completing a registration form (download by clicking on the orange button below) and mailing it to Margaret along with a non-refundable deposit of $100. Payment can be made by check or cash. Pay in full by September 30, 2023 and receive a coupon good for 2 free yards of fabric from Quilting with Margaret.

Pre-Party
There will be a Pre-Party at my studio prior to the Get-Away in March or April of 2024. At the Pre-Party, you will be receiving a welcome packet with information about the weekend, including any supply lists and a description of the guided quilt project. There will be refreshments and a chance to get reacquainted with your retreat friends or get to know your fellow retreaters if you are new. If you live out of the Rochester area or can’t attend the Pre-Party, you will receive a welcome packet in the mail.
