Wednesday I went to the Rochester Modern Quilt Guild meeting.  What an inspirational group of women! It was just what I needed to get myself inspired and back to quilting again.  Since my dog Abbie had major TPLO surgery, and has been recovering for the past 9 weeks, I haven’t been able to get to my studio very often.   Abbie is  a 90-pound Weimaraner, full if energy and life who as a result of this surgery needed to be kept quiet and crated so she could heal. Not an easy task, especially since she knows how to escape from her crate. So I have spent the past 9 months at home with Abbie. Friday morning the vet gave her permission to return to normal dog activities, which also means I can return to my studio and get back to quilting.  She went with me to my studio after the vet visit while I put things away from June’s First Friday and set my studio back up for classes.

Saturday was my last U.F.O. class until September.  There were five of us working on finishing up projects. Helen spent the day preparing several quilt tops for quilting.  Holly sewed the borders on her quilt from the Get-Away weekend, basted it and got her quilt machine quilted.  Shellee finished up her French Braid music-themed quilt top.  Fran made a 60° table runner from a border stripe football fabric. I showed Fran how to make a hexagon table topper with her leftovers.  We all had a nice Saturday completing some projects.

Wednesday will be my last Open Studio until the fall.  Then I have to get busy planning fall classes and making samples.  If you’d like to join us for an Open Studio, you can register right here on my website.  Just go to the Upcoming Classes page on the left and click on the June 19 Open Studio PayPal button.  This class meets once a month on a Wednesday after work, 5 p.m. or whenever you can make it. Everyone brings their own supper and we quilt until 10 p.m. My studio has lots of space with tables to baste a quilt, cutting and ironing stations, and plenty of light.  And I now have air conditioning, so the studio won’t be too hot this summer.
