Quilts

Bloomin’ 4-Patch is a one-of-a-kind handmade lap quilt that measures 47 1/2” x 74 1/2”. It is made from a Laurel Burch animal themed focus fabric which is pieced to a blue print and is visible on the back of the quilt.

The focus print blocks are made from squares cut from 4 identical layers of the fabric resulting in 4 identical squares. That is how the pieced blocks all end up in a kaleidoscope effect. Every block is different, depending on where it was cut from the print and which corner is in the center.

The star points are made from coordinating one-color prints. The stars are joined by another one-of-a-kind pieced focus block creating diagonal rows of stars throughout the quilt. Some of the focus fabric blocks are surrounded by a bright blue print creating diamonds which fill in the spaces between the diagonal rows of stars.

All of the blocks are on a mottled black background which has been machine quilted with a loops and stars design. The stars and diamond blocks are machine quilted with a curved line giving them a curved illusion.

This modern quilt is pieced with a background border making the design to appear to float. All fabrics are 100% cotton. The quilt is machine quilted with 100% cotton batting. It is finished with a pieced binding made from the fabrics used for the star points.

Framed is a lap quilt that measures 54 1/2” x 66.” It consists of a variety of gold, silver, white and black prints cut in squares and rectangles and then framed. The variety of value in the light and dark frames create an illusion that some of the squares and rectangles are popping forward.

This modern quilt has no borders. The use of metallic and rich colors in this quilt give it a elegant look. All fabrics and batting are 100% cotton.

Framed is backed with a gold floral print on a black background. It is machine quilted in an allover design that I like to call a “wavy diagonal grid.” The curved quilting softens and compliments the squares and rectangles of this quilt. A black fabric with gold dots binds the quilt.

Fractured Quilt is a more traditional design with repeated blocks and a border. The quilt measures 58 1/2” x 80” and because of the block placement, a secondary design is created.

The blocks are made from a wide variety of black and gold prints. But when you break the quilt down to the actual 11” block, it is simply a large light triangle and a large dark triangle with a couple of light and dark strips in the center on either side of a gold square. All of the gold squares and the inner border are made from the same fabric pulling the scrappy blocks together.

The block placement creates the secondary design of six large on-point squares with the center strips and squares. Also, the 6” outer border of a black print with a gold scroll helps pull the quilt together and frame the fractured center.

A gold on tan loopy print backs the quilt. All fabrics and batting are 100% cotton. The custom quilting (see closeup photos) in the lighter triangles mimics the scrolly patterns in the fabrics. Also, the dark triangles and strips of the blocks are quilted with narrow freeform lines. Loops fill the light strips and border.

City Nights is a batik lap quilt that measures 48” x 72.” It consists of twenty 12” blocks each with a brightly colored small square on top and sitting half off of a larger bright square. The square blocks are all “floating” on a black background.

All top fabrics and binding are made from 100% cotton batik fabrics. The backing fabric is also 100% cotton but not a batik. The backing fabric has similar colors and depicts guitars, CD’s and musical notes floating in a night sky.

The squares on the front are meant to depict city buildings against a night sky. The bright squares are machine quilted with an outline stitch. The black background is machine quilted in a large stipple. This modern quilt is borderless.

Circles and Diamonds is made from just six oversized 18 1/2” blocks. The center diamonds in each block is three-dimensional with a “peeled-back” edge. A circle is quilted in the center of each block.

The 4 1/2” borders are made from the same green and yellow modern print as the center diamonds in the blocks. Each block is made with a different blue, green or yellow modern print background fabric.

This on-of-a-kind quilt is measures 46” x 64 1/2” and is heavily quilted with free-form circles. The border is machine quilted with three double-stitched curvy lines.

All fabrics are 100% cotton, including the blue and green piecework print backing fabric. The quilt has 100% cotton batting and is finished with a binding made out of the same fabric as the diamonds and border.

Tula Pink Deer Quilt measures 39” x 49 1/2” making it the perfect size for a baby quilt, toddler quilt or wall hanging. The main focus fabric is an allover aqua, red and yellow print with a “hidden” deer head within the design.

The blocks with a small offset yellow square surrounded by red print. these blocks are pieced in an off-center vertical row. Also, the lack of a border and large background areas are more features making this quilt a perfect example of a modern quilt.

This quilt is allover machine quilted with a design I like to call a “wavy diagonal grid.” All of the fabrics and batting are 100% cotton.

The backing fabric is a Tula Pink fabric with an allover botanical print with sprays of flowers, leaves and seed pods in coordinating colors.

Tula Pink Deer Quilt was machine pieced and quilted by Margaret Spevak.

Ribbon Weave Quilt measures 31” x 39” making it the perfect size for a baby quilt or a wall hanging quilt. It is made exclusively from Tula Pink fabrics.

The backing fabric is a typical Tula Pink fabric that on first glance looks like a tapestry fabric, but on closer inspection has “hidden” tiger heads within the print. The background fabric on the front, is an aqua print on an off-white background with “hidden” moth designs in the print. The ribbons are made from two different colorways of an ombre mosaic stripe print.

The ribbons are cut and pieced to give the ribbons a woven appearance. They are machine quilted with double lines spaced out on the ribbons. The background area is quilted with an allover ribbon design.

All fabrics and batting are 100% cotton. The quilt is bound in a solid aqua cotton fabric.

Minky Monsters is a baby quilt that measures 45” x 50.” it is made from yellow and green Minky 100% polyester dot fleece that is incredibly soft. It is combined with a 100% cotton brightly colored monster print fabric.

Due to the fact that most of the quilt is two layers of Minky fleece fabric, there is no batting between the layers. The result is a very cuddly quilt that drapes well.

The corners are rounded adding to the soft feel and look of this baby quilt. It is machine quilted in-the-ditch between the large blocks. The quilt is finished with a bias binding from the monster print fabric.

Easy care: machine wash, cold and tumble dry, low or line dry. Iron only as needed with a very low temperature to avoid melting Minky fabric.

Colorful , one-of-a-kind 17” square wall hanging features a machine applique technique known as “herky jerky.” This raw edge fusible applique technique is stitched using a free-motion, irregular squiggle stitches to finish the edges cresting a stained glass appearance.

Solid color prints make up the blocks to coordinate with the colorful butterfly wings depicted on the 2” outer border fabric. Skinny black sashes and inner border accent the brightly colored blocks. A 1/4” yellow-orange print frames the pieced center.

Mini quilt is simply machine quilted in-the-ditch between 3” blocks and around border. All fabrics and batting are 100% cotton. The mini quilt is backed in a solid black fabric and is bound in the same black 100% cotton fabric.

Easy care: machine wash, cold water, line dry and iron as needed.

One-of-a-kind 17” mini wall hanging quilt is made from Asian print fabrics with gold highlights on a gold flecked cream background. The three-dimensional 5 1/2” blocks are set on-point.

Two of the blocks are machine pieced with a fabric folding technique to create the dimensional origami effect. The other two blocks depict the front and back of a kimono and are a combination of machine piecing and hand applique. The collar and back bow a created with folded fabric and are 3-dimentional.

The blocks are bordered with 1/2” maroon sashing. The mini quilt is hand quilted in cream colored thread. The corner triangles are hand quilted with a fan and ribbon design. the quilt is bound with the same maroon fabric as the sashing.

All fabrics and batting are 100” cotton. the mini quilt is backed in the same lantern Asian print seen on the pieced kimonos.

Easy care: machine wash, cold water. Line dry and iron as needed.
