RBG Facemasks Coming Soon!

The death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a huge blow to many, including me. She has fought to support women’s and LGBTQ+ rights for decades. So I went in search for some RGB fabrics to make into facemasks and potholders. Today I was notified that the fabrics I ordered a week ago have shipped. I will let you know as soon as you can purchase an RBG facemask or potholder! Sign up below to follow my blog so you will know when new items like the RBG merchandise are available.

In addition to the currently listed facemasks in my website shop and the new RBG facemasks which will soon be available, within the next I will have a major update to the shop page. Soon you will be able to order potholders, oven mitts, aprons, table scarves, coaster sets, rectangular appliqued pillows, pillow covers, runners and more right from this website.

I’m trying to get geared up for the holidays. You will soon be able to shop from the comfort of your own home at whatever time you want instead of waiting for a First Friday to shop. Currently we are not able to be open for First Fridays or Second Saturdays at the Hungerford building due to COVID.

But I know many of you like to shop local and buy handmade items, so I have spent the summer working to update my website. In August, you were able to see the “new look” of the website. In the next week, I will be unveiling the newly designed Shop page to include more than just facemasks. And soon (before the end of October) I plan to add lap quilts, a few more handmade goods and some “quilt shop” items (like patterns and kits) to the new Shop page.

Eventually I plan to add fabrics and more patterns to the shop page so you can do all of your shopping online, if you wish. Keep checking back to see new additions and signup to follow my blogs to keep up to date with the upgrades to the Quilting with Margaret online shop.

Welcome to My New and Improved Website!

This is my third website. My last website was 10 years old and not phone friendly. With the pandemic forcing me to not be able to hold First Fridays, Second Saturdays or even open studio hours, I needed to rethink how I could continue my business and sell things online.

Celebrating my new website

This is my third website. My last website was 10 years old and not phone friendly. With the pandemic forcing me to not be able to hold First Fridays, Second Saturdays or even open studio hours, I needed to rethink how I could continue my business and sell things online.

What’s New

Thanks to the help of a friend, Barbara Day of Days Work Design, we built this new website.  Here is what’s new, besides the light, fresh look. Quilting with Margaret’s website is now phone, tablet and laptop friendly. There is a shop page with a shopping cart for easy online purchasing. Right now I have devoted most of the shop to face masks, but I will be adding more items to the shop in the coming months. Soon you will be able to buy anything you can buy at my studio on First Fridays, right from this website.

You can now sign up at the bottom of the homepage to receive updates. This will help to keep you up to date on any fabric sales at my studio, new classes added or any class date changes and information on upcoming retreats at my studio or get-away weekends.

You can also go directly to my Quilting with Margaret Facebook page, Pinterest page, and Instagram page right from this new website. And, you can go directly to the new Facebook group Take A Look: A Gallery of Rochester Artists which I am a part of. This is your guide to shopping locally and supporting Rochester artists.

Just like before with my old website, you can check out details of upcoming classes and retreats. There is still a page devoted to my annual Get-Away weekend with information and a downloadable signup brochure. My blogs will have occasional tips and hints on quilting. I hope to do better at writing blogs more regularly than I have done over the past couple of years.

More Changes Coming

Although my new website is now live, it will be improving and expanding over the next couple of months, so be sure to check back regularly to see what’s new. But for now, please browse through the new site as it's emerging, and let me know what you think so far!

Wearing a mask is about care for others

After making over a hundred masks for donation to local essential businesses and friends, I am now making fashionable face masks for sale at my online Quilt Shop. I have lots of fun themed novelty fabrics, as well as contemporary fashion fabrics to go with any outfit. They are all washable, reusable and comfortable to wear.

Colorful face masks made by Margaret Spevak available for sale online.

The state of New York has mandated that all New Yorkers wear a mask when away from home, especially when social distancing may not be possible. This mandate will probably be in effect for months to come. So now, we are all in search of fashionable face masks.

I wear a mask in public, not for me, but for YOU.

Wearing a face mask is a thank you to the healthcare workers on the front lines.  I have been trying to do my part by sewing face masks.

The pattern I use is from ROCcovid19masks.org, designed for donation to hospitals and care facilities. The cotton cloth mask has three pleats, a wire nose piece, elastic ear loops and a pocket for a disposable filter (like a paper towel or coffee filter). I have made many face masks for donation to local businesses and for essential workers. Now I make them for you.

You can check out the face masks I have for sale in my online Quilt Shop.
