Meet “Lilac”
Meet “Lilac” the Quilting with Margaret “Hopper on the Shelf.” She will be hiding out at the my studio shop during May and June for the All New York Shop Hop.
Lilac is my “Hopper on the Shelf” for the All New York Shop Hop. When you visit Quilting with Margaret during the ANYSH, look for Lilac who is hiding somewhere in the shop. If you find her, bring her to the cutting counter for a picture and to enter a weekly drawing for prizes.
The first All New York Shop Hop began on May 1st and ends June 30. It has only been 3 days and I have met lots of quilters who have never been to my studio. I had over 20 hoppers visit my studio just this past Saturday! It has been great meeting everyone and having you all discover my little studio quilt shop.
You can find my studio quilt shop in the Boxart Business Park, 100 Boxart St., Rochester, NY. Look for the Quilting with Margaret parking spot in the parking lot in front of the building. If it is already taken, you can briefly park in front of door #5 for 15 - 30 minutes. Or park in the far parking lot near Boxart St., to get your steps in for the day. Enter the building through door #5 and take the steps to the second floor. Follow the signs to my studio #265.
My special extended hours for May and June during the shop hop are Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Also, I will be open one Sunday a month, May 18 and June 1, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Stop in and check out my shop.
All New York Shop Hop Kick-Off Party
Stop by Quilting with Margaret on Saturday or Sunday (March 15 or 16) from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for the All New York Shop Hop (ANYSH) Kick-Off Party where you will be able to preview and pre-order the exclusive Riley Blake fabric to celebrate New York with cake and champagne.
Stop by Quilting with Margaret, 100 Boxart St., Studio #265, on Saturday or Sunday (March 15 or 16) from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for the All New York Shop Hop (ANYSH) Kick-Off Party. At the Kick-Off Party you will be able to preview the exclusive Riley Blake fabric to celebrate New York.
I can’t wait to make a quilt with this fabric. I’m sure you will also need some of this exclusive fabric to make a quilt or add to your stash. The fabric will only be available in participating New York shops. It will be available on May 1st for as long as supplies last. I ordered a bolt of each fabric of the entire line plus an extra bolt of the panel fabric.
The panel is my favorite of these exclusive fabrics, highlighting the wonderful regions that New York State has to offer. Upstate New York was well represented with a “poster” for the Finger Lakes, Letchworth State Park, Watkins Glen State Park, the Adirondacks and Niagara Falls. Upstate got 5 of the 9 “posters” on the panel. I call them “posters” because they remind me of the National Parks fabric that has been so popular and has a retro WPA-style poster vibe.
In addition to collecting this limited edition fabric, each participating store will have a free 5” square with a quilty phrase, which you can collect from all of the stores you visit. Mine will say “Oh Scrap!”, a phrase I often use just before I pull out Jack (the Ripper). To go with the collectible 5” phrase squares, Quilting with Margaret will have a pack of 5” squares of the exclusive NY fabrics along with a special Rochester skyline slate coaster for sale. They will all be available along with lots of 5” square-friendly patterns beginning May 1 through the end of June, or until the supply runs out.
I expect to sell out of the fabrics and exclusive 5” square/coaster packs before the shop hop ends. That is why I will have them available for pre-sale at the Kick-Off Party. As a thank-you gift for stopping by Quilting with Margaret on March 15th or 16th, you will get a free grab bag full of lots of little goodies. Pre-order the exclusive fabric at the Kick-Off Party and pick up an ANYSH magazine full of patterns, maps, participating stores’ locations and hours, special extra store hours for the shop hop and your passport to prizes. You will be able to pick up your pre-ordered fabric on May 1st or after.
If you pre-ordered a magazine, it will be available for pickup at the Kick-Off Party, along with a special grab bag. If you didn’t get your magazine pre-ordered, I will have more for sale at the Kick-Off Party and during the shop hop. But getting your magazine early allows you to plan your shop hop before it begins on May 1st.
