Get-Away From It All
Posted By Margaret on February 21, 2010
What are you doing April 9-11th? I’m going to Bristol Harbour for a weekend of relaxation and quilting. For the fifth year Quilting with Margaret is hosting a Get-Away Weekend…two nights and three days of doing what you want, when you want…no meals to cook, no cleaning to do, and time to quilt all day and night if you like. We start out Friday afternoon at 3pm, when you can check into your Adirondack-style room full of relaxing amenities like a gas fireplace and bathrooms with heated tile floors. Every room has access to a balcony facing Canandaigua Lake. Next, sign-in and pick up your packet of information/goodies and set up your sewing area in the large, open conference room which also faces the lake. At 6pm gather in my room for a Get-Acquainted Wine Reception followed by our first gourmet dinner back in the conference room. Then you can quilt for the rest of the evening.
On Saturday, we start with a buffet breakfast and more time to quilt or work on whatever craft we like. Coffee, beverages and snacks will be out all day. At lunchtime, enjoy a buffet lunch (maybe outside if the weather is nice enough). This year we’ll have a special guest speaker, Susan Rooney, the designer of the group project we’ll be working on. She will entertain us with a trunk show and have a small store of her patterns, fabric, etc. available for purchase. Later in the afternoon indulge yourself with a free chair massage. Also, we’ll have a short lesson on making a simple little bag (from a free kit) for storing your quilting notions. At 6pm gather in my room for a Champagne Hour followed by another gourmet dinner in the conference room. The rest of the evening is yours to quilt, hang out in your room, visit the bar or do whatever you like.
Sunday morning begins with another buffet breakfast, followed by a special treat this year – optional facials and pedicures. Later in the morning we’ll have a large Show & Tell. Although we need to check out of our rooms by 11 am, we can continue to sew in the conference room until 3pm., leaving us plenty of time to return home, relaxed and rejuvenated, before dark.
Does this sound like the perfect weekend? It’s not too late to sign up and join us. Just click here to download a printable sign-up brochure. Don’t miss out on this incredible weekend of relaxation and quilting. But don’t wait too long, the weekend is filling up fast this year. It may be our biggest year yet!
